The backstory

I hated shopping and looking for the right clothes. And if, by some miracle, I managed to find the perfect T-shirt for me, for example, it was very difficult or even impossible to find a second one, particularly because of the changes in collections (more about this below). So I decided to put an end to this issue once and for all!

How the name came about / Our Journey to Finding the Perfect Title

I first heard the phrase "Born To Be" in 2000, when an American TV show with the same name called Born To Be was on. They were talking about the biographies of cult figures - how a man from a simple poor family had reached the heights and recognition of the world through his perseverance, inner strength, and belief in his dreams. Inspired by these stories, a few years later I moved from Rybinsk to St. Petersburg, where I started searching for my life path.

To stay on track and not forget about my dream, I got a tattoo under my chest that says -Born To Be.

It became a reminder for me to strive forward no matter what, to never give up and to move towards my goal every day. Now I present to you the Born To Be brand to share this idea with each of you!

About the brand: our history and priorities

The brand started in 2017, in Moscow, but somehow I felt that one day someone in China would appear and we would produce there! Because it is a huge selection of fittings and unique materials which cannot be found in Moscow or in Turkey.

This is a huge number of factories that narrowly specialize in one thing and, thanks to this, are able to produce a very high quality and "branded" product, which would be very, very difficult to achieve in Russia. Later on, this is what happened.

The photo is from 2019. This is what my 25-square-meter room looked like, which I rented in the center of Moscow and where the main Born To Be warehouse was. At the time, there was one employee in addition to me, who worked in the reception of orders and mandrels. He also had a mini warehouse at home.

  • During my tourist trip to Hong Kong, I met Artem, who became my partner and supervises all the processes in China. He has lived there for more than 10 years, speaks Chinese, and has a lot of experience with factories.

  • The first 2 years Artem worked alone, but now we already have our own employees directly at the factories. It is very important that Artem, like me, is absolutely captured by the idea of creating a truly great clothing brand!

Highest quality

While other businesses aim to maximize profits, often at the expense of deteriorating the quality of materials and simplifying sewing technology. For us, the main condition is to maximize quality and durability as much as possible and however much it costs in production (within reason, of course). Also, we do not bargain and pay well for the work of factories so that factories try to do even better for us.

Features

We don't use design for design's sake, nothing superfluous! Every element, detail, stitching must have a specific function!

Bring it to perfection

While almost all clothing brands are constantly updating their collections, we try to perfect every single product and release updated versions! Here we like to draw an analogy with Apple.

By the end of 2021, there were already 7 versions of the backpack. From 2022, we updated the hoodies with additional zippered pockets inside the kangaroo pocket.

From 2022, gradually, we made the elastic bands in socks and boxers looser, after discovering that for many people who may not even know it - they are pushing.

These and hundreds of other nuances are what we work on daily so that you can enjoy the best product possible!

The Born To Be Philosophy

"Born To Be" literally translates as "Born To Be," where some sort of sequel is called for, but the point is just that everyone should determine for themselves what the rest of the phrase is.

If you pay attention to the slogan, which we use "Don't pretend, Just be", which literally translates as "Stop looking, just be", then you can understand a very simple and seemingly obvious, but profound meaning of this statement, which seems to know everything, but few people use it in life.

Born To Be means striving to be yourself, not copying others. Not being self-conscious or trying to appear better than you really are. Don't compare yourself to others and don't be jealous of others' success. Be yourself, work on yourself, try to be better every day! Love yourself and be grateful for every moment of your life - that's our philosophy!
